Responsible
Pet Owners (R.P.O.)
is a coalition of individuals that share your commitment to animal welfare
and to man’s responsibility for and historical relationships with
animals. R.P.O. members practice and promote
humane animal care and treatment.
Parallel to our
obligation to advance animal welfare is our opposition to the agenda of the
animal rights movement and the methods of many radicals in that movement to
achieve that agenda by distortions of the truth and by harassment,
vandalism, arson, bombing, and other forms of crime and violence.
To accomplish our goals,
R.P.O.
* provides materials
about animal welfare and animal rights to the media, to lawmakers, and to
the general public
* conducts campaigns to
help animals and animal owners
* offers a library of
articles about various animal-related subjects
* supports the wise and
thoughtful use of natural resources
* provides this website
to alert animal owners and others about the differences between animal
rights and animal welfare and the battle for reasonable laws, regulations,
and guidelines affecting animal ownership
* In addition, R.P.O advances the cause of animal
welfare and the rights of animal owners by promoting reasonable animal
control laws that impact irresponsible owners and protect customary humane
animal husbandry practices
* helping animal owners
defeat existing laws that unjustly restrict or ban breeds and species or
unfairly limit the number of animals an owner can keep
* urging passage of
strong laws that target vandalism, harassment, arson, bombing, and other
types of domestic terrorism in the name of animal rights and
environmentalism.
